West Brom are looking to hire former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay to fill their managerial vacancy after sacking Ryan Mason. Mason was dismissed following a 10th consecutive away defeat, leaving the club 18th in the Championship, seven points above the relegation zone. The Baggies hope to have a new manager in place before their next league game against second-placed Middlesbrough on 16 January.
Ramsay, 33, is currently in his first senior managerial role with Major League Soccer side Minnesota United. He led them to their highest-ever finish in the Western Conference, fourth place, and guided the team to back-to-back Conference play-off semi-finals.
Before moving to the United States, the Shrewsbury-born Welshman worked as a first-team coach at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag and also served as an assistant coach for the Wales national team. Ramsay had been linked with the West Brom job last summer, before Mason was appointed as head coach.
