After Aston Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 in the FA Cup third round at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, tempers flared at the final whistle. Players from both sides got involved in a confrontation, which the Football Association has now labeled as “misconduct.”
The FA says both clubs failed to make sure their players and officials behaved properly after the game. Villa had taken a 2-0 lead at half-time with goals from Emiliano Buendia and Morgan Rogers, while Tottenham’s Wilson Odobert scored after the break but it wasn’t enough to avoid elimination.
Both clubs now have until Friday to respond to the charges. Villa, sitting third in the Premier League, will face Newcastle United at home in the fourth round.
