Burkina Faso have let go of coach Brama Traore and his coaching team after their disappointing exit in the last 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). The Stallions had aimed to reach the semi-finals but were beaten 3-0 by Ivory Coast, the defending champions. The country’s football federation said the result “fell far short” of expectations and caused disappointment among fans, officials, and football authorities.
Traore, 63, had been appointed in March 2024, taking over from French coach Hubert Velud, who left after Burkina Faso also went out in the last 16 of the 2023 Afcon. The federation is now expected to start looking for a new coach to rebuild the team ahead of future competitions.
