Morocco will aim to end a 50-year wait for their second Africa Cup of Nations title when they face Senegal in the 2025 final on Sunday in Rabat. The game also represents a chance for Morocco to show the value of their country’s investment in football infrastructure.

The match pits two of Africa’s top teams against each other, with Morocco ranked 11th in the world and Senegal eight places below them. Defender Romain Saiss said: “We are waiting for this trophy for 50 years now… It’s the dream of all Moroccans.”

Morocco boast the tournament’s best defence, having conceded just once from a penalty, but Senegal, who have scored 12 goals en route to the final, will provide a tough challenge. Senegal are also chasing their second Afcon title, having won their first in 2021.

The champions will also take home $10m in prize money, up $3m from the last tournament. For the fourth edition in a row, the winning coach will be African, with Morocco’s Walid Regragui or Senegal’s Pape Thiaw set to follow the likes of Djamel Belmadi, Aliou Cisse, and Emerse Fae.
