Elena Rybakina came back strongly to beat world number one Aryna Sabalenka and win her first Australian Open title. The Kazakh player looked in trouble after going 3-0 down in the final set, with Sabalenka closing in on another Grand Slam win.
However, Rybakina turned the match around, winning five games in a row before sealing a 6-4 4-6 6-4 victory. The win also made up for her defeat to Sabalenka in the 2023 Australian Open final.
For Sabalenka, it was another painful Grand Slam final loss, her third defeat in the last four major finals. Rybakina stayed calm under pressure, finishing the match with an ace to claim her second Grand Slam title, adding to her Wimbledon win in 2022.
