Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior has emerged as the leading contender for the Chelsea job after Enzo Maresca left the club.
Maresca, the former Leicester boss, stepped down as Chelsea head coach on Thursday following internal tensions with the club’s hierarchy and owners. Chelsea have now begun the process of finding a replacement, with Rosenior seen as the frontrunner, although other candidates are still being considered.
The 41-year-old Englishman, who previously managed Hull City, currently works at Strasbourg, a club owned by BlueCo, the same investment group that bought Chelsea in 2022. Rosenior is believed to have strong internal backing at Chelsea, and Strasbourg are already looking at possible replacements in case he leaves.
Porto coach Francesco Farioli has also been mentioned as a possible option. In the past, Chelsea have spoken to managers such as Roberto De Zerbi, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Frank, Andoni Iraola, and Marco Silva, though it is unclear who remains in contention.
Chelsea are unlikely to change their style of play, making a move for Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner improbable.
It is still uncertain who will be in charge for Sunday’s match against Manchester City. Under-21s coach Calum McFarlane will handle media duties ahead of the game, while a post by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez suggested that Maresca’s backroom staff have also left the club.
