Brennan Johnson has agreed to join Crystal Palace from Tottenham in a £35m transfer.
The deal is close to being completed and could be finalised after medical tests on Friday, allowing the 24-year-old Wales forward to be included in Palace’s squad to face Newcastle on Sunday.
Johnson decided to make the move after positive talks with Palace manager Oliver Glasner and senior club officials on Thursday. With those discussions going well, he is now set to complete his switch to Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace had already agreed the £35m fee with Tottenham, having made Johnson their top transfer target.
Tottenham were willing to sell despite Johnson being their top scorer last season with 18 goals, including the winning goal in the Europa League final against Manchester United. However, he is not part of manager Thomas Frank’s long-term plans.
