Crystal Palace have agreed a deal in principle worth around £50m to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, while Nottingham Forest are preparing a higher bid for Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Palace’s interest in the 25-year-old has stepped up in the last day, with a formal offer expected soon. The move would break Palace’s transfer record, beating the £35m they paid for Brennan Johnson. Wolves are willing to sell Strand Larsen if their £55m valuation is met, having already rejected bids from Newcastle and Leeds.
Meanwhile, Mateta has told Palace he wants to leave, and Forest are set to return with an improved offer after their initial £35m bid failed. Juventus and AC Milan are also interested, but Forest remain keen despite knowing Mateta wants Champions League football.
No deal is expected before Palace and Forest meet in the Premier League on Sunday.
