Dallas Mavericks teenager Cooper Flagg made NBA history by scoring 49 points against the Charlotte Hornets, becoming the first teenager ever to do so, despite Dallas losing 123-121.

The 19-year-old broke a 46-year-old record previously held by Clifford Robinson and also became the youngest player to record 40 points and 10 rebounds in an NBA game.

Hornets guard Kon Knueppel, a former college team-mate of Flagg at Duke, also impressed with a career-high 34 points, setting a Charlotte rookie record for three-pointers made.

Together, Flagg and Knueppel scored 83 points, the most by opposing rookies in over 50 years and the first time two rookies from the same college scored 30 or more points in the same game.
