Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta will not play against Nottingham Forest, with manager Oliver Glasner saying he is “not in the right place” amid transfer speculation. AC Milan have renewed interest in Mateta, while Palace want £40m after rejecting a £35m bid from Forest.
Glasner explained that the striker isn’t focused and can’t perform at his best, so he will not travel to the City Ground. Mateta is Palace’s top scorer this season with eight Premier League goals.
The club is also working to replace captain Marc Guehi, sold to Manchester City, with Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen among potential targets. Glasner emphasized that Palace are preparing for either scenario: Mateta staying or leaving before Monday’s transfer deadline.
