Erling Haaland got back on the scoresheet with his 150th Manchester City goal, but City’s Premier League title challenge continued to stall as Brighton held them to a third straight draw.
Pep Guardiola’s side have struggled at the start of the year, with injuries and poor results allowing Arsenal to take control at the top of the table. Brighton caused problems throughout, finding space against City’s patched-up defence and creating several good chances, only to be denied by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and last-ditch defending.
City finally went ahead in the 41st minute when Haaland scored a penalty after Jeremy Doku was fouled, marking the Premier League’s 35,000th goal. They had chances to extend the lead, but failed to do so.
Brighton made City pay as Kaoru Mitoma scored a fine equaliser from outside the box. Despite more missed chances from both sides, the match ended in a draw, leaving Manchester City still struggling to build momentum in the title race.
