Eder Maestre urges London City Lionesses players to match his ambition after a goalless draw with Liverpool.
The 39-year-old Spaniard, appointed on 2 January following Jocelyn Precheur’s departure, wants his team to adopt a bold, attacking style aimed at European competition by 2027.
Maestre admitted he “cannot recognise” the team he wants after the dull stalemate, where London City managed only two shots and failed to score for the third consecutive WSL game.
“I have very ambitious ideas,” he said, calling for a new mindset, energy, attacking play, and pressing. “We need a winning mentality every day and to better exploit the spaces we create.”
Despite some improvement in the second half, Maestre insists his team must rise to his high standards if they are to succeed.
