Marcus Edwards scored a second-half equaliser as Liverpool were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by struggling Burnley at Anfield.
Florian Wirtz had put Liverpool ahead in the first half with a powerful strike, shortly after Dominik Szoboszlai hit the bar from a penalty. Despite dominating possession and taking 32 shots, Liverpool couldn’t find the killer finish, with Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka making eight crucial saves.
Edwards made Burnley pay in the 65th minute, finishing brilliantly past Alisson after a perfect pass from Florentino Luis. Liverpool tried hard for a late winner but couldn’t break through, meaning they dropped two points against the league’s 19th-placed side.
The draw extended Liverpool’s unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions but marked their fourth straight league draw. The point leaves them one ahead of Manchester United in fourth, but they missed the chance to close in on second-placed Manchester City and third-placed Aston Villa.
For Burnley, who are winless in their last 13 league games, a point at Anfield feels like a victory and could boost their confidence as they fight to avoid relegation.
