Leeds United avoided an FA Cup shock with a second-half comeback to beat Championship side Derby County. After Ben Brereton Diaz gave Derby an early lead, Wilfried Gnonto and Ao Tanaka scored two quick goals before the hour mark to put Leeds ahead. James Justin sealed the win with a late goal in stoppage time.
The first half was scrappy, but Joel Piroe’s shot hitting the post gave Derby a boost. Leeds’ goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom then saved a penalty after Lukas Nmecha was fouled in the box. Despite that, Diaz gave Derby the lead with a neat low finish past Karl Darlow.
Leeds turned the game around after the break, with Gnonto and Tanaka finishing well from close range. Derby tried to fight back, but Zetterstrom kept them out until Justin’s late strike finally sealed the victory.
