Kim ready for Winter Olympics despite injury

Olympic snowboard champion Chloe Kim says she will be fit to compete at the Winter Olympic Games next month, despite recently dislocating her shoulder while training in Switzerland. The 25-year-old underwent an MRI scan, which showed that the injury is less serious than first feared, giving her hope that she can still perform at her best.

Kim, who won Olympic gold in the halfpipe in 2018 and 2022, is aiming to become the first woman to win three consecutive Olympic halfpipe titles. She explained on Instagram that her labrum injury will prevent her from training fully before the Games, but she remains confident and says she is “good to go” for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, scheduled for February 6–22.

Despite the setback, Kim is determined to face the challenge. “I haven’t gotten nearly the amount of reps that I would have liked, but that’s OK,” she said. “I’ve been doing this for so long, and every season I’ve met different challenges. I’m so grateful that I will be good to go for the Olympics.”
