Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was emotional after his team were knocked out of the NFL play-offs by the Denver Broncos, who moved one win away from the Super Bowl.
The Broncos beat the Bills 33-30 in overtime, after Allen made his fifth turnover of the game, which allowed Denver to kick the winning field goal. Allen had a chance to win the game but could not finish it.
Despite leading Buffalo to the play-offs for seven straight seasons, the NFL MVP has still not reached the Super Bowl. At 29, Allen now has the most play-off wins by a quarterback without a Super Bowl appearance.
A tearful Allen said he felt he had let his team-mates down and admitted the loss would stay with him for a long time.
In the other Divisional Round game on Saturday, the Seattle Seahawks cruised to a 41-6 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Denver, who had home advantage as the AFC’s top seed, led early before the Bills fought back to make it 30-30. The Broncos then won in overtime, securing their first play-off win since 2016, when they last won the Super Bowl.
The Broncos will now host the AFC Championship game, but will be without quarterback Bo Nix, who suffered a broken ankle and is out for the rest of the play-offs.
