Former Super Eagles captain Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha has said it is hard to compare himself with Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho.
Okocha admitted that Ronaldinho is the most skilful player he ever played with. He made these comments in an interview with Clutch 9.
He was responding to a past comment from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who played alongside both men at Paris Saint-Germain and said he could not decide which of them was more skilful.
Okocha joked that he considers himself the “chief flair officer,” but praised Ronaldinho highly, calling him a football genius. He said Ronaldinho’s talent was obvious from the start and that he brought something special to the game.
Okocha explained that they connected well on the pitch because they shared a similar background. Both learned to play football on the streets, played for the love of the game, and enjoyed expressing themselves with smiles on their faces.
He added that while both of them had good careers, Ronaldinho took his to a higher level, which is why it is difficult to compare the two players.
