Africa Cup of Nations holders Ivory Coast came from behind late on to beat Gabon and top Group F, finishing ahead of Cameroon on goals scored.

The Elephants were in trouble early, going 2-0 down within 21 minutes. However, Jean-Philippe Krasso gave them hope just before half-time by finishing off a pass from Wilfried Zaha.

Ivory Coast struggled to create chances in the second half until Aston Villa forward Evann Guessand scored with a header from a corner six minutes from the end to make it 2-2.

Deep into added time, Bazoumana Toure completed the comeback with a diving header from a Christopher Operi cross, sending fans into celebration.

Yan Diomande later thought he had made it 4-2 on the counter, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.

Before the late turnaround, Cameroon were set to win the group thanks to their 2-1 victory over Mozambique.

Ivory Coast will now play Burkina Faso in the last 16 in Marrakesh on Tuesday, 6 January, avoiding a tougher path to the final.
