Aston Villa scored twice in just two minutes after the break to come from behind and beat Brighton in the Women’s Super League. Rachel Daly headed Villa level, and 92 seconds later, top scorer Kirsty Hanson fired in a brilliant strike from outside the box.
Brighton had taken the lead thanks to a rare error from Villa goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo, with Fuka Tsunoda finishing confidently on her first WSL start. Daly came close twice before half-time, hitting the bar and post, but Villa finally equalised after the break with Daly’s header from Lucia Kendall’s free-kick.
Hanson then put Villa ahead with a sharp first-time shot from Miri Taylor’s pass. Brighton had few chances in the final 10 minutes, with Madison Haley’s header the closest. Villa secured their fourth league win of the season, moving two points above Brighton.
Manager Natalia Arroyo praised her team’s response: “It’s about how you react after a mistake. The players showed bravery and we earned three important points.”
