Gary Neville has called on Manchester United to stop experimenting with managers and instead hire someone who truly fits the club’s DNA after Ruben Amorim was sacked.
With Darren Fletcher in temporary charge until a caretaker is appointed, and a permanent manager not expected until summer, Neville says United must return to what they are known for – attacking, exciting football, playing young players, and entertaining the fans.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said United should not change their identity for any manager. He believes the club needs an experienced manager who is brave enough to play fast, aggressive, attacking football, similar to how Barcelonastick to their philosophy.
Neville also criticised Amorim’s tactics, saying United struggled badly with his 3-4-3 system, despite expectations they would adapt better.
Former England striker Gary Lineker agreed, saying Amorim was too stubborn with his style of play, that the players did not suit the system, and that the club should have realised earlier that it was not the right fit.
