Wales head coach Steve Tandy has recalled prop Tomas Francis and included uncapped Leicester wing Gabriel Hamer-Webb in his Six Nations squad.

Francis, 33, last played for Wales at the 2023 World Cup and has 77 caps. He will join Sale Sharks next season after leaving French side Provence. He is one of three tight-head props, alongside Keiron Assiratti and Archie Griffin.

Hamer-Webb, 25, qualifies for Wales through his mother and has moved from Cardiff to Leicester this season. He joins Bath centre Louie Hennessey as the squad’s uncapped players.

Returning players also include Josh Macleod, Sam Costelow, James Botham, Owen Watkin, Mason Grady and Ryan Elias. Injuries have ruled out flanker Jac Morgan, captain Taulupe Faletau, and centre Max Llewellyn, while notable absentees include Rio Dyer, Tommy Reffell, Nick Tompkins and Callum Sheedy.

The 38-man squad features 13 players based in England and France, and 14 from Cardiff and Ospreys, amid ongoing discussions of a potential merger between the two Welsh clubs.

Wales will assemble next week ahead of their Six Nations opener against England on 7 February. Tandy praised hooker Dewi Lake for his leadership, backing him to captain the side again.
