Chelsea reached their seventh straight Women’s League Cup final with a narrow win over Manchester City at Joie Stadium.
Wieke Kaptein’s header just before half-time proved decisive, despite City hitting the post twice and missing several other chances. Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton made key saves to keep her side ahead.
Chelsea, aiming to defend the three domestic trophies they won in Sonia Bompastor’s debut season, will now face Manchester United, who beat Arsenal 1-0, in the final at Ashton Gate on 15 March.
The League Cup has been dominated by the WSL’s top teams, but next season changes mean this could be the last chance for a Champions League side to win the trophy.
