Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has dismissed comments from former players as “irrelevant,” saying Roy Keane’s personal remarks “did not bother” him. Carrick, who inherited Keane’s number 16 shirt when he joined United in 2006, went on to win five Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Keane recently criticised Carrick’s appointments to his coaching staff, including Jonny Evans, Steve Holland, and Jonathan Woodgate, while also making a personal remark about Carrick’s wife from a past incident. Carrick said these opinions don’t add pressure and that he focuses on what his team needs to succeed.
Carrick confirmed he hasn’t been given targets for his 17 games in charge but described European qualification as a step forward. He also met members of the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe during a board meeting at Carrington, emphasizing that his main communication is with director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada.
