Calum McFarlane says he’s prepared to take charge of Chelsea after a Hectic day

Chelsea interim manager Calum McFarlane says it’s been a “whirlwind” 24 hours since being named temporary boss following Enzo Maresca’s departure.

McFarlane, who normally leads Chelsea’s U21s, will make his senior managerial debut on Sunday against Manchester City. The English coach described the experience as exciting and enjoyable, despite the hectic nature of his sudden promotion.

He admitted: “I am quite relaxed… I haven’t worked at this level before but the lads have been brilliant and we will do this together.” Chelsea are currently 15 points behind leaders Arsenal and three places behind second-placed City.

Maresca left after a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, and Guardiola called him “an incredible manager and person”, while denying speculation about replacing him at City. McFarlane emphasized that his focus is on supporting the players and giving a strong performance despite the challenges.
