Chelsea’s Women’s Super League title hopes take a hit as Arsenal claim a deserved win at Stamford Bridge.
Beth Mead opened the scoring in the 55th minute, finishing off a pass from Alessia Russo. Six minutes later, Mead set up Mariona Caldentey for a calm finish to double Arsenal’s lead.
Chelsea struggled to score despite some clear chances from Erin Cuthbert and Sjoeke Nusken, leaving them six points behind leaders Manchester City, with a game in hand. Arsenal move to third, just one point behind Chelsea.
Arsenal started fast, keeping Chelsea under pressure, and nearly scored early through Katie McCabe and Russo. Chelsea threatened from set-pieces but couldn’t capitalize. In the second half, Arsenal struck twice quickly, leaving Chelsea unable to recover.
The win gives Arsenal their first victory over Chelsea since December 2023 and keeps pressure on the top of the table, with Manchester City looking to extend their lead.
