Former Manchester City striker Bradley Wright-Phillips says Lionel Messi is the better player compared to Cristiano Ronaldo.
He believes Messi offers much more than just scoring goals, which is why he rates the Argentine star higher than Ronaldo.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Wright-Phillips was asked if Ronaldo should be seen as the greatest footballer of all time. He replied:
“You can’t be the best in the world if all you do is score goals.
“Ronaldo? No, come on. Are you really someone who thinks Ronaldo is better than Messi?
“For me, it’s about the eye test. The best player in the world should look like Messi or Zidane — they need to have something extra.”
Both Messi, 38, and Ronaldo, 40, winners of multiple Ballon d’Or awards, are approaching the end of their playing careers.
