Florian Wirtz scored his first goal for Liverpool as the Reds beat Wolves in an emotional match at Anfield, held in memory of Diogo Jota.
Liverpool scored two quick goals just before half-time, with Ryan Gravenberch opening the scoring before Wirtzdoubled the lead a minute later. Wolves pulled one back early in the second half through Santiago Bueno, but Liverpool held on for the win.
The match was played in a touching atmosphere, with Jota’s sons, Dinis and Duarte, acting as mascots and both sets of fans singing in his honour. Liverpool have retired Jota’s number 20 shirt following his death in July.
The victory makes it three Premier League wins in a row for Liverpool and seven games unbeaten in all competitions, while Wolves are still without a league win this season.
