Tottenham Hotspur have officially signed BK Häcken defender Hanna Wijk on a long-term deal, pending international clearance and a work permit.
The 22-year-old Sweden defender is Spurs’ first signing of the transfer window under head coach Martin Ho. Tottenham currently sit fifth in the WSL after winning six of their first 11 matches.
Wijk, who has one cap for Sweden, has been with Häcken since the age of 16 and made 107 appearances for the club since her debut in 2020. She said joining Tottenham is a dream move, adding that she has always wanted to play abroad in the WSL, which she followed closely from Sweden.
Ho said Wijk was in high demand and choosing Tottenham shows the club’s ambition, believing she will both develop further and raise the team’s level.
Tottenham are also interested in Wijk’s Häcken team-mate Matilda Nilden, while talks continue over a possible loan move for Japan international Maika Hamano from Chelsea.
