Sweden Defender Lundkvist Agrees move to Manchester United

0

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist, strengthening their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

The 23-year-old right-back will officially join Manchester United Women on 1 January, signing a contract that runs until June 2029. She is currently without a club after leaving San Diego Wave last week.

Lundkvist is an experienced international, having started every game for Sweden at Euro 2025 and earning 17 caps so far. She has also played for Atletico Madrid and Hammarby during her career.

She said the chance to play in the Women’s Super League and Champions League attracted her to the move, calling the WSL “one of the strongest leagues in the world”.

United are currently fourth in the WSL and will face Atletico Madrid — one of Lundkvist’s former clubs — in a Champions League play-off in February. She becomes the first signing of what manager Marc Skinner has promised will be a busy transfer window for the club.
