South Africa have formally extended Rassie Erasmus’ tenure as Springbok head coach through to the conclusion of the 2031 Rugby World Cup. Erasmus’ prior agreement was set to expire after the 2027 tournament, but both parties reached a swift extension. The 53-year-old reiterated his long-held view that he would struggle to lead any other national side and expressed his willingness to remain in the role as long as supported by the South African public.
Additionally, the Springboks confirmed their 2025 mid-year schedule, which includes a high-altitude Test against England at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on 4 July. Further fixtures involve Scotland at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria and Wales in Durban, forming part of the inaugural Nations Championship.
