The NFL has confirmed it will return to Munich to play regular-season games in 2026 and 2028.

Germany has already hosted five NFL matches in recent years, with Allianz Arena in Munich staging games in 2022 and 2024. Berlin hosted its first NFL game last month and will stage more games in 2027 and 2029.

NFL Germany boss Alexander Steinforth said the league wants a good balance between the two cities going forward, and the NFL has now agreed a multi-year partnership with Munich.

Germany has the largest American football fanbase in Europe, with more than 20 million fans, according to the NFL. Over 40,000 young players have taken part in the NFL flag football programme since it launched in 2020.

The Allianz Arena said hosting NFL games has helped put Munich firmly on the global sports map.

The NFL has also confirmed five international games for the 2026 season, and is expected to return to London’s Wembley Stadium and Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, while Paris’ Stade de France is being considered as a new host.
