Newcastle Red Bulls have signed Argentina international lock Franco Molina on a two-year deal, starting from the 2026-27 season.

The 28-year-old will join the club next summer after finishing the 2026 Super Rugby season with Australia’s Western Force. Molina already has Premiership experience, having made 17 appearances for Exeter Chiefs last season, and has earned 20 caps for Argentina.

He has previously played for several clubs in Argentina, as well as Chilean side Selknam. Molina said he is excited to join Newcastle and believes it is an important time for the club.

Newcastle manager Neil McIlroy said Molina’s international experience, knowledge of the Premiership and strength in set-pieces will be valuable as the club looks to improve.

Newcastle are currently bottom of the Premiership after losing all eight league games this season and face Gloucester on Friday.
