Manchester United fear big blow as injured Fernandes faces time out

0

Manchester United are facing a huge setback after Bruno Fernandes was injured during their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa. Manager Ruben Amorim played down the situation, but teammate Diogo Dalot admitted losing Fernandes would be a “massive” blow for the team.

Dalot said the full extent of the injury is still unclear, but stressed how serious it could be because Fernandes rarely misses games. The United captain was forced off at half-time, and his toughness makes his early exit especially worrying.

Fernandes is United’s key player and main creative force. Even while playing deeper this season, he has scored five goals and provided seven assists. Before the Villa Park match, there were only four Premier League games where United scored and Fernandes was not involved in at least one goal.

Amorim confirmed the injury is a soft tissue problem, likely to rule Fernandes out for a few matches. He will definitely miss the Boxing Day game against Newcastle after feeling his hamstring late in the first half. Fernandes tried to continue but could not return for the second half and was clearly struggling as he left the pitch.
