Manchester City are close to agreeing a £65m deal with Bournemouth to sign Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo. Talks have progressed quickly over the past two days, with City ready to trigger his release clause.
Semenyo’s representatives were in Manchester on Monday to sort out personal terms, and discussions continued on Tuesday, with a full agreement now close ahead of the January transfer window opening on Thursday.
The 25-year-old, who is starting for Bournemouth against Chelsea on Tuesday, wants his future settled by 1 January. However, Bournemouth are hoping he can still play against Arsenal on 3 January and Tottenham on 7 January before his release clause expires on 10 January.
Although Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all shown interest, Manchester City are the only club to make an official move, putting them in pole position to sign Semenyo.
