Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that striker Alexander Isak will be out for about two months after a “reckless” tackle by Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.
Isak broke his left leg during the challenge while scoring in Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Spurs and later had surgery on an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture.
Slot called the tackle “reckless” and warned that such challenges often risk serious injury. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher said it was unlucky for Isak but admitted that he might have made the same challenge in Van de Ven’s position.
Carragher added that Isak showed glimpses of his true quality for Liverpool before the injury.
