Liverpool Have Salah in Training Again After his Outburst

0

Mohamed Salah trained with Liverpool on Monday, just days after giving an explosive interview where he said he felt “thrown under the bus” and claimed his relationship with Arne Slot had broken down.

The 33-year-old has been left out of the starting XI for three straight games, including being an unused substitute in the 3-3 draw at Leeds United. Despite the drama, Salah took part in the session that was open to the media ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match against Inter Milan. It’s still unclear whether he will travel with the squad to Italy later today.

Salah’s comments came after Liverpool let a 2-0 lead slip at Leeds. In the two games before that, he came off the bench against Sunderland and was left unused in the win over West Ham. His last start was the 4-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, and his last goal was in a 2-0 win at Aston Villa on 1 November.

So far this season, Salah has 5 goals in 18 appearances, and overall he has 250 goals in 420 games for Liverpool. His 29 Premier League goals last season helped the club win the title. He joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and signed a new two-year contract in April.

Former England striker Wayne Rooney says Salah is “destroying his legacy” at the club and believes Slot should leave him out of the games against Inter and Brighton. After the Brighton match, Salah is expected to join the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Salah admitted he’s unsure about his future:

“I’m going to enjoy the game at Anfield because I don’t know what will happen next. I’ll go to the Africa Cup of Nations, and I don’t know what will happen while I’m there.”
