Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard says he and FC Seoul have “mutually agreed” to end his contract, and he will leave the club next week.

Lingard, 32, joined the K League side in February 2024 on a free transfer. He has played 66 games and scored 18 goals. His last match will be on Wednesday against Melbourne City in the AFC Champions League.

On Instagram, Lingard said his experience in South Korea has been “unbelievable,” praising the football, the atmosphere, and the passion of the fans. He thanked supporters for their love and support, saying he is grateful for the chance to play for such a big club.

FC Seoul confirmed that Lingard told them he wants to move on to the next stage of his career. The England international, who made 232 appearances for Manchester United, has not yet said where he will play next.

Lingard leaves South Korea without winning a trophy, but he did help the club finish fourth in his first season their best result since 2019  and they finished sixth in the 2025 season.

The club said Lingard attracted huge public interest and became a symbolic figure not only for FC Seoul but for the entire K League.

After ending a 20-year spell at Manchester United, Lingard had a tough beginning in Seoul and was criticized by his coach after missing early matches due to injury. However, he later became an important part of the team and was eventually made captain.
