Pep Guardiola says Manchester City need to be ready for when he eventually leaves and for finding his replacement. City are reportedly already looking at potential successors, though Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca who used to work as Guardiola’s assistant at City says rumours linking him to the role are "100% speculation"
Guardiola, 54, signed a contract until 2027 and has won multiple trophies at City, including six Premier League titles and the 2022-23 Champions League. He said there are no talks about leaving early, but the club should prepare for all possibilities.
Maresca, meanwhile, stressed he is focused on Chelsea, where he has a contract until 2029, and denied any interest in moving to City. He also mentioned that injured forwards Liam Delap and Estevao Willian could return sooner than expected, helping Chelsea ahead of their match against Aston Villa on 27 December.
Chelsea play Newcastle on Saturday, while City host West Ham, two points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.
