Derby County cruised to a comfortable win over bottom club Sheffield Wednesday with goals in each half at Hillsborough.
Patrick Agyemang opened the scoring in the first half after a Sheffield Wednesday mistake, and Liam Thompsonscored his first Championship goal early in the second half. Agyemang then added his second goal on 62 minutes to seal an easy victory for the Rams.
Sheffield Wednesday, who are rock bottom and 29 points from safety after an 18-point deduction, managed just one shot on target. They have now gone 14 games without a win and were lucky not to lose by more.
The win moves Derby up to 12th in the Championship, just four points outside the top six, and marks only their second victory in six matches.
Derby took control after a slow start, pressing Wednesday into mistakes while trying to play out from the back. Agyemang’s first goal came after Bobby Clark set him up, and Thompson made it 2-0 after finishing from close range following a free-kick.
The third goal came when Rhian Brewster won the ball and crossed low, with Agyemang finishing from close range. Many Wednesday fans left early as the game slipped away.
Wednesday remain in serious trouble, stuck on minus nine points, with just one league win all season and 40 goals conceded in 20 matches. The club is still in administration, with new owners being sought, adding to the misery for supporters.
