Chances were few as Comoros and Zambia played out the first goalless draw of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in a quiet match in Casablanca.
The biggest moment came in the first half when Myziane Maolida thought he had scored for Comoros after tapping into an empty net following good wing play by Rafiki Said. However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR check showed a foul in the build-up, with Yacine Bourhane stepping on Owen Tembo’s foot.
Comoros were the better side overall, but the second half lacked action. They came closest again when Faiz Selemaniheaded a cross onto the roof of the net, with Zambia goalkeeper Willard Mwanza caught out of position.
The draw suits Comoros, who now have one point going into their final Group A game against Mali. Zambia, on two points, are likely to need a win against hosts Morocco to qualify for the last 16.
