Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has left Cole Palmer out of the squad travelling to face Atalanta in Tuesday’s Champions League match.
The club is carefully managing Palmer’s playing time after he recently returned from injury. He started Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend, but he will not be available for the match in Bergamo.
Both Chelsea and Atalanta have taken 10 points from their first five games, with three wins, one draw and one loss each. Chelsea are currently seventh in the standings, with Sporting CP and Manchester City sitting between them and Atalanta.
Palmer is still expected to be available for Chelsea’s Premier League game against Everton this weekend.
