Six-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz has ended his long-term partnership with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero in a surprise decision.
The 22-year-old world number one announced on Wednesday that he and Ferrero have decided to go their separate ways ahead of the 2026 season. The pair had worked together since Alcaraz was a teenager.
No reason has been given for the split, and Alcaraz has not yet said whether he plans to appoint a new coach.
In a message thanking Ferrero, Alcaraz said he was grateful for everything they achieved together, adding that Ferrero helped turn his childhood dreams into reality and supported him both on and off the court.
Ferrero, a former world number one himself, helped develop Alcaraz at his tennis academy near Murcia and guided him to all six of his Grand Slam titles.
