Chelsea captain Millie Bright says the team is “not in a crisis” despite their 1-0 loss to Everton, which ended a 585-day unbeaten league run and extended their WSL winless streak to three games. The defending champions are now six points behind Manchester City after 10 matches.
Bright says Chelsea won’t panic and will stay positive as they prepare to face Roma in the Women’s Champions Leagueon Wednesday. Chelsea still need more results to reach the knockout stages, currently sitting sixth in the standings.
She added that there is “more noise from the outside” about Chelsea losing, but inside the team they know their quality. Bright says WSL games are getting tougher, teams are improving, and sometimes you simply have to credit the opponents. Chelsea always aim for three points, she said, but setbacks are part of football.
