Arsenal didn’t look fully convincing, but they still secured a place in the Champions League knockouts after a 1–0 win over FC Twente. Beth Mead scored early with a shot that took a deflection in the 10th minute, and although Arsenal dominated most of the match, they couldn’t turn their control into more goals.
Arsenal have had a shaky Champions League campaign so far, winning twice but also losing games where they had been ahead. Against Twente they pressed high, won the ball often, and created chances through Mead and Alessia Russo, but struggled to finish them. Russo missed several opportunities, including a late header that hit the crossbar.
The win moves Arsenal up to sixth with nine points. Right now they would go into the knockout phase play-off round as a seeded team. They must beat Leuven in their final group game to have a chance of finishing in the top four and qualifying directly for the quarter-finals.
