Giannis Antetokounmpo left the game early with an injury, but the Milwaukee Bucks still managed to pull off a 113–109 comeback win over the Detroit Pistons.
The 30-year-old star went down just three minutes into the game and had to be helped off the court. Despite falling behind by 18 points in the first quarter, the Bucks rallied at home to earn only their second win in their last 10 games.
Kevin Porter Jr led Milwaukee with 26 points, Ryan Rollins added 22, and AJ Green scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to spark the turnaround.
“It was a huge win,” said head coach Doc Rivers. “We started poorly, Giannis got hurt, but the guys fought back. It says a lot about this team.”
Detroit stay top of the Eastern Conference despite their fifth loss, while Milwaukee sit 10th.
The Bucks believe Antetokounmpo may have strained his right calf and are waiting for MRI results. Before the game, an ESPN report suggested he was thinking about his future with the team, but Rivers denied any talks about a possible trade.
In other NBA action, James Harden and Kawhi Leonard combined for 48 points as the Los Angeles Clippers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 115–92 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Jamal Murray also dropped a season-high 52 points in Denver’s 135–120 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
