Alonso says Real Madrid are United as a Team

0

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso, who is under pressure, says the whole club is “all together in this” as they try to stop their poor run of form. Alonso, the former Bayer Leverkusen boss, took over from Carlo Ancelotti in the summer, but after just six months he already seems to be fighting to keep his job.

Real Madrid recently lost 2-0 to Celta Vigo and have only one win in their last five La Liga games, leaving them four points behind Barcelona. They now face Manchester City in the Champions League, and Alonso says it’s a big chance to turn things around.

He said the team must stay positive and give energy to the fans at the Bernabéu. Alonso met club president Florentino Pérez last week as the pressure grew, and reports say his chances of staying in the job are “slim” if they lose to City.

Still, Alonso insists he has support from the board, saying communication is good and that Real Madrid have unity from the dressing room to the boardroom.
