Eintracht Frankfurt's Sporting Director Markus Krosche says there's a "high probability" Omar Marmoush will be leaving the club.
He was speaking ahead of Eintracht's 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund on Friday.
"I've said often before that we're in discussions with a club. In the end, it's Manchester City and we've really been in close contact with them for one or two days now," sporting director Krosche told broadcaster DAZN ahead of the game.
A move to City would be a "huge opportunity" for Marmoush, he added.
"We'll see how it develops in the coming hours and perhaps days, but there is now a very high probability that he will be leaving us."
Marmoush appeared to say goodbye to Frankfurt fans following their win on Friday night.
The forward was left out of the Frankfurt squad and the club released a statement confirming they are in talks with another club regarding his transfer.
Sky Sports News reported this week that City have verbally agreed a deal for Marmoush with the German club.
