Liverpool to Assess Jota fitness for Bologna match

Liverpool will assess the fitness of forward Diogo Jota before Wednesday's Champions League game against Bologna at Anfield.

The Portugal international, 27, was absent from Tuesday's open training session after picking up a minor issue.

Manager Arne Slot expects Jota to be in the squad to face the Serie A club.

"Diogo missed two sessions after the Wolves game as he took a knock," Slot said.

"I'm expecting him to be with us [for the game]."

Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa also missed Tuesday's training session and is ruled out of the Bologna match.

"Federico trained with us and came in today with some problems and I'm not expecting him to be in the team," added Slot.

"It is a pity for us and for him as well as he was looking forward to a Champions League night at Anfield, especially against an Italian team.

"I'm not expecting him to be out for a very long period of time, but this game is not possible for him and we have to wait to see if he can be in the team on Saturday [against Crystal Palace]."

Liverpool are looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Champions League after beating AC Milan in their opening fixture.
