Youth League: NPFL chairman calls for proper documentation of players

The chairman, Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Youth League Committee, Emeka Inyama, has called on clubs to ensure proper documentation of their players ahead of the screening scheduled for Jan. 31.

Inyama, who stated this on Thursday in Lagos, said that proper documentation was required to avoid players being disqualified due to the negligence of their clubs.

“We will be very intentional and meticulously strict in enforcing the rules to ensure that ineligible players do not play in the competition because the youth teams are the future of the NPFL.

“Clubs have been communicated on the eligibility criteria, and they are expected to get every document ready to make the screening easy for all involved,” he said.

He said that clubs are expected to arrive at their centres on Jan. 30 to commence the screening, adding that the zonal qualifiers will take place from Feb. 1 to 3.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NPFL Youth League will be held in five centres: Enugu for Southeast teams and Lafia for North Central teams.

Others are Asaba for South South teams, Ekiti for Southwest teams, and Kaduna for North West and Northeast teams.

The Youth League will serve as the growth centre to develop the next generation of NPFL players as some get older and others move abroad for greener pasture.
