Beale: It's got a bit much for Pritchard

Sunderland boss Michael Beale has commented after Alex Pritchard expressed his desire to leave the club.

The Championship side announced on Saturday that the midfielder had informed them of his desire to leave the club, adding he is no longer available for selection.

Sunderland have been contacted for comment.

"It's been ongoing to be honest, not just the last 24 hours," he said, speaking after the 3-1 win over Stoke at the Stadium of Light.

"He's a boy who is coming up to the end of his contract and he's been offered one, I think mentally it has got a bit much for him."

Pritchard does not want to leave Sunderland but has been offered a two-and-a-half-year deal by two separate clubs - significantly more than is on the table at the Stadium of Light - one source has told Sky Sports News.
